Description

Dr Adrian Shepherd  is a Reader in Computational Biology at ISMB and Birkbeck, University of London. His research group works on immune responses to several viruses that have a major global impact on human health (influenza A, HIV, hepatitis B virus, herpes simplex virus) and immune responses to protein therapeutics (notably replacement factor VIII used in the treatment of haemophilia A). He uses computational biology to discover and map virus behaviours and to generate statistics in order to detect possible routes to developing a cure for such viruses.  In this lecture you will learn about the methods used in biology against influenza as an example, and what is ahead for biologists of the future.
