Description
Professor Matthew Almond studied chemistry at Reading University graduating in 1981, then completed a PhD in inorganic chemistry at Oxford (1984). After a short period of postdoctoral work he returned to Reading as Lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry in 1986, being promoted to Senior Lecturer in 1998 and Professor of Chemistry Education in 2012.
He has been awarded a University Teaching Fellowship and am a nominee for a National Teaching Fellowship. He has also won the Faculty Award for Student support as “Best Lecturer in Faculty of Life Sciences” twice – in 2010 and 2013.
His research interests focus upon infrared spectroscopy, with applications ranging from small molecules at low temperatures to archaeological and environmental samples.
